St. Michaels and Lark Lane
Community Association

The community hub in the old police station in Lark Lane, Liverpool. They organise youth clubs, facilities for senior citizens, flea markets, self help groups, healing days and so much more. They even loaned us a ladder to fix our roof (thank you Rupert).

Shops on Lark Lane

One of the last bastions of small shops in Liverpool with lots of good restaurants and cafes. We eat at Greendays (a smashing little veggie cafe above the Gallery on the corner of the lane) but there is something for everybody.

If you love books and reading you should be reading

 The Reader MAGAZINE

'The Reader is one of the best things to thump through the letter box... Full of pithy, passionate and precise things.'

Seamus Heaney

 They say:

The Reader exists to promote the good in literature, with the belief that reading can be serious and fun, life-enhancing and creative for everyone...

We think:

It's much more than that, visit their website and you will see what we mean.

News from NowhereOur favourite other bookshop in Liverpool. This is where you will find the books outside of the mainstream, with the  politics and interests abhorred by the Daily Mail, the Express and Rupert Murdoch (may God rot his soul). Very good site for links to alternative activities in Liverpool and Merseyside.

a
Nerve Magazine Magazine focussing on the grassroots art and culture on Merseyside. Just take a look at the arts goodies on offer. They say:

CATALYST MEDIA (producers of ‘Nerve, our magazine is a 32 page arts, cultural and social issues magazine.) utilises and develops underused talent and resources in the creative communities on Merseyside. We develop the skills of new writers, journalists, photographers and artists, helping them to promote their work through our magazine and website.

We think:

What a great magazine. If you live in Liverpool and the surrounding area and have a brain you should be reading it. Terrific for events.
